About Us

Where infrastructure meets environmental responsibility.

Opal Watch was born from a simple observation: the world obsesses over recycling plastic and paper, while the fastest-growing waste stream on Earth — redundant data — goes completely untreated.

Our Story

A waste company that saw the invisible landfill

Opal Watch is operated by TIP WASTE LTD, a Welsh company built on circular-economy principles. Years of work in physical waste management taught us one lesson: waste persists only when nobody measures it.

Cloud storage is the perfect example. Duplicate files, forgotten snapshots, and abandoned backups quietly multiply — each one drawing power from a data centre somewhere, every hour of every day. Estimates put digital infrastructure among the fastest-growing sources of global electricity demand.

So we built the tools we wished existed: automated audits, verified secure purging, and lifecycle automation that keeps cloud estates clean permanently — with the carbon savings measured, reported, and ready for your ESG disclosures.

The "Opal" vision for clean technology

An opal takes rough, common material and refracts it into something luminous. That is exactly what we believe technology should do with data: strip away the dull, redundant mass, and let what remains shine — efficient, valuable, and light on the planet. Clean technology, to us, is not a marketing term. It is an engineering discipline with measurable outputs: fewer bytes, fewer watts, fewer tonnes of CO2.

Corporate Values

What we hold ourselves to

Waste Nothing

Digital waste is real waste. Every redundant byte draws power, emits carbon, and costs money. We treat data hygiene with the same seriousness as physical recycling.

Trust by Design

Zero-trust access, read-only where possible, quarantined deletions, and auditable certificates. Our clients hand us their most sensitive estates — we earn that every day.

Measure, Then Act

No greenwashing. Every claim we make is backed by live telemetry, verified methodology, and reports your auditors and ESG teams can rely on.

Planet-Scale Thinking

Data centres now consume more electricity than many countries. We build tools that let enterprises shrink that footprint without sacrificing performance.

Milestones

  1. 2021

TIP WASTE LTD founded in Wales, applying circular-economy principles to physical waste streams.

  2. 2023

Opal Watch launched after recognising that the largest untreated waste stream is digital.

  3. 2024

First petabyte-scale enterprise cleanup completed; zero-trust purging pipeline certified.

  4. 2026

Petabytes cleaned across AWS, Azure, and GCP with an average 40% cloud carbon reduction.
